The global Verified by Visa scheme, a new service to protect you against fraud when you use your Debit Card to make purchases on the Internet.
How it works
It’s free, easy-to-use and adds another layer of security to every purchase you make at participating online retailers – just look out for the Verified by Visa logo when you shop online. You can either register now or during shopping.
When you make an online purchase from a participating retailer a message asking you to register will appear within the retailer’s web page. All you need to do is enter your details and setup a password which will remain confidential to you.
When you’re shopping at a participating retailer, after you have completed your payment details, all you do is enter your Verified by Visa password when prompted, just like your PIN at any ATM. Only you will know this password, so only you will be able to authorise your online purchases.
After 3 prompts, if you don't register your password you won't be able to shop at participating retailers' sites. It's important therefore that you
pre-register a password for your debit card now, or follow the prompt to register whilst shopping online in order to complete an online purchase.

Which websites use Verified by Visa?
Not all retailers participate in the scheme at the moment, but most will over time. You can visit the Visa website for a list of some of the biggest retailers who are currently part of the scheme.
