Telephone share dealing service

This service is provided to Alliance & Leicester customers by Barclays Stockbrokers Limited, one of the UK's largest retail stockbrokers. Alliance & Leicester's share dealing service enables you to deal directly with a stockbroker over the phone and has been specially designed to make UK share dealing easy.

To use Alliance & Leicester's telephone share dealing service to sell ordinary (certificated) shares call us on 0870 516 8351^†.

To use Alliance & Leicester's telephone share dealing service to sell ShareSafe shares call us on 0870 516 8350^†.

Depending on a credit reference check you can deal straight away by telephone. We will then send you an information pack explaining the service.

Additional charges

Government stamp duty or stamp duty reserve tax (SDRT) on UK equity purchases:

0.5% SDRT on all UK equity purchases settled through CREST¹, rounded to the nearest 1p.
0.5% stamp duty on all UK equity purchases not settled through CREST¹, rounded up to the nearest £5.

If you ask us to produce a duplicate contract note more than six months after the date of the deal you will be charged £10 plus VAT (£11.75).

If you ask us for a copy or transcript of a telephone conversation to verify a complaint against us and we are not at fault you will be charged £20 plus VAT (£23.50).
